New pair of pants

Delivery from H&M came in the mail this weekend.

I just ordered these awsome trousers few weeks ago. They are high in the waist (which is always good for a woman with a tummy) and are layered with wide pleather lines on the side. In front are two golden slippers that give them a little extra feature, so cool.

I can dress them up with a pair of heels and a nice blouse or a shirt for work. Or I can just where them with a t-shirt and some boots for more casual look.

Copenhagen Street Food

A few weeks ago we discovered a great new food court in Copenhagen. It is called Copenhagen Street Food and is located in a big warehouse at Papirøen in Christianshavn.

The warehouse is filled with about 25-30 diffrent food stalls where there is focus on quality og diversity.

There is a burger stand, a hotdog stand (with the most delicious hotdogs ever), a kebab stand, tacos, Italian food, Mexican food, Indian food, Japanese food , etc., etc., etc.

In the middle of the warehouse is a seating area, where you can enjoy your food. At lunch time you buy your drinks at the bar, but in the evening you can place an order with a waiter for your drinks in the seating area and then walk around and get your choice of food.
Last friday we finally took the opportunity and had lunch at Copenhagen Street food with our girls. I got this delicious beef stew from a belgian food court. Our girls got hotdogs and ice cream of course :)

Ingó got tacos and a beef kebab.

Ups and downs - we all have them

Regarding my post from Wednesday about Women Magazines making woman feel bad and less about themselvs after reading them. Well, Thursday morning I bought the latest issue of Eurowoman. It is their issue no. 200 and contains all the good stuff - the best shopping tips, endless beauty tips, fashion and a photo series with clothes that are so expensive that I can only dream of having them in my closet.

But the issue also contains ten fantastic interviews with ten amazing women. I have just absolutely buried myself in the magazine reading the interviews, these women have such an interesting stories to tell. None of the women have anything in common, they all have different backgrounds and live different lives. There is no glamour, I am perfect, I do everything right and better then you! It is just regular women telling their story, there experiences, joy and sorrow. .

They talk open heartily about motherhood, how that change their lives, both the joy and love, but also how hard it was to become a mother. One says she laid on the couch and cried out that she didn´t want to be a mother.

They talk about the stress and difficulty of juggling between family live, keeping a schedule and also having a fulltime job, where one tells the story of when she one day just sat down on the kitchen floor and cried.

They talk about their jobs, their success but also their failures. One of the women just closed her business and she admits that she loves the freedom and feels so much better now even though her firm was her identity and her life.

They talk about their age and death, some of them fear the fact that they are getting older, others see it as a natural part of life. One said she has had to much red wine in her lifetime and sunbathed too often, but the reality is, that even though that has made her look older, that also was the thing that made her enjoy life.

I think we all have our ups and downs and I love and admire that these women are willing to talk openly about their life and all thees issues, that every woman has in her life. About motherhood, jobs, not feeling good enough and getting older. I can relate to all of them. Reading the interviews has made me feel really good about myself, both my ups and downs.

Serenity Cupcakes

Recently I started fallowing a new blog/website called ChriChri.dk The person behind the page is Christiane Schaumburg-Müller, a danish tv & radio host. The site is about fashion, home design, food - everything a girl loves :) Earlier this week Christiane had wisited Serenity Cupcakes in Copenhagen to make a special ChriChri edition cupcake with pumpkin. It just looked so delicious that I had to use the opportunity when I was down town yesterday to check out the store and get some cupcakes to take home with me.
My girls really loved the Oreo cupcake but my favorite was the pumpkin one. Like they said on the blog, it's just like carot cake, just more creamy. I totally recommend it :)

Self-respect

This evening I came across a TV show in the Danish television called Piger på krisestien or Girls on the road to crisis. The show was really interesting as it reflected on a survey that showed that most women feel bad about themselves after reading a women magazine. Most of the Danish women magazines only have very few articles about society and general issues that are happening in the world today. Instead they are focusing on fashion, food and beauty.

As a frequently reader of all kind of women magazines I have to say that I have never felt less or bad about myself after reading one, instead I get inspired to try new things and recipes, check out new brands and fashion tips. I absolutely love all the girly stuff a woman magazine has to offer.

But I am also realistic about the fact that often the models are way to thin and they are photoshopped and made prettier for sale purposes. But I also know that I am gorgeous the way I am and I don't have to look anything like the models in the magazine. I know I am not perfect but neither are the models in the magazine. I am comfortable in my own skin and try to be the best person I can be and that is enough for me. I hope to teach my girls the same self-respect and values. It is fun to be a girl and every girl/woman should embrace that.

Outfit of the day

Today we took a long nice walk in Christianshavn, a beautiful neighbourhood in Copenhagen close by. The weather was perfect, sunny and warm, it is almost hard to belief that it's middle of october.

I took this opportunity to ware my nice sweater from Urban Outfitters that I bought in New York and my new pleather jacket i bought in Iceland. The two items go so well together and give the casual autumn outfit. As the sweater is long enough I matched it with a par of black leggings and my biker boots from Billi Bi.

The best bread in the world

At least at our house :)
Ingó makes it from scrach. He got the recipe at www.kvalimad.dk.

He starts the evning before by making the dough and then it has to rise throughout the night.

Early in the morning the next day he folds the dough with flour and then it has to rise for the second time for a few more hours.

In the mean while Ingó turns on the owen and puts our le Creuset cast iron pot in it and waits for the pot to warm up to 250 celsius degrees.

Then he poures the dough into the pot and bakes it for 45 min. Afterwareds it has to rest for few minutes and then we have a delicious bread for lunch time. Perfectly moist and soft with a crust to die for. It is so good that we just eat it with butter for not spoiling the taste.

Sometimes he adds a small amount of honey to the mixture and then the crust gets this sweet caramelised flavor that is just heaven :)

My weekend in Iceland

My newborn nephew - his name is Ægir Rafn. Ægir beeing the name of his grandfather on the mother side and Rafn is the name of his grandfather on the father side. There is a great tradition in Iceland to give your childrean the same name as your parents (their grandparents).

This is how we do icecream in Iceland - with a lot of candy. In Iceland there is a tradition of eating icecream all the year around and almost every town has a great icecream store with endless variatons for mixing flavours, candy and sauce.

We had a "Bragðarefur" which translates to Taste-fox. My sister got a mix of cookie dough and licorice powder.

Family dinner - I have a large family  so it is a little bit crowded around the dinner table, but we are used to it:)

And of course we cook an Icelandic leg of lamb. Absoulutly delicious.

Shopping in Iceland - the result was this pleather jacket form Only

And then just more photos of my new nephew with his mom and dad becouse he is absulutly gorgeous :)
